CosHive: Community Platform & Marketplace for Cosplayers in the DACH Region

Conception and development of a community platform for the German-speaking cosplay scene in the DACH region. CosHive is built from within the community and creates a safe space where cosplayers, artists, prop makers, and creative service providers can connect, exchange ideas, and support each other. At its core is the vision of making the hobby more sustainable – by keeping materials, costumes, and knowledge circulating within the community instead of going to waste.

The platform comprises a React-based web application and a native mobile app built with React Native, both connected to a central Supabase backend. Supabase handles the complete infrastructure – from the PostgreSQL database to OAuth authentication, real-time chat, file storage, and server-side logic via Edge Functions. A curated fandom database with over 500 entries makes it easy to discover like-minded creators by series, games, and fandoms.

The invitation-based access model ensures a curated community with high quality and protects against spam and bad actors. A well-thought-out moderation system with clear guidelines fosters respectful interactions, making CosHive a safe home for the DACH cosplay scene.
