Geschenkzeitung.de: Modern E-Commerce with Angular PWA

Geschenkzeitung.de is the online shop for historical original newspapers — a niche specialist with almost 30 years of experience and over 2 million products. The shop was completely redeveloped as a Progressive Web App with Angular, offering a modern shopping experience across all devices.

The centerpiece is the date-based product search: customers enter a desired date — such as a birthday or wedding anniversary — and receive matching historical original newspapers, magazines, chronicles, books, CDs, DVDs, and other gift items. Product-type-specific result displays present each category optimally. Cross-selling and configurable gift bundles increase the average order value.

Six payment methods are available: Stripe (credit card), PayPal, purchase on account, SEPA direct debit, cash on delivery, and prepayment. Shipping logistics are directly connected to DHL with an option for 24-hour delivery. Personalized authenticity certificates and gift certificates are automatically generated. Shopvote integration provides verified customer reviews with over 1,000 positive reviews per year.

The Angular-based PWA offers fast load times, offline functionality, and a responsive mobile-first design. Configurable content blocks enable editorial maintenance without developer intervention. The GCP cloud architecture with Google Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Armor ensures scalability and security. The shop serves as the frontend to the ERP system “Babylon” and processes approximately 20,000 orders annually.
