The Initial Situation: Manual Documentation and Time Burden
Urology practices face a major challenge: Legally required documentation of antibiotic resistance means hours of manual work. Data must be captured, analyzed, and sent as reports – all manually. Duplicate documentation across different systems not only costs time but also carries the risk of errors. The practice needs a solution that simplifies these processes while ensuring all legal requirements are met.
The Solution: Browser-Based Software with EUCAST Guidelines
Together with the team, we developed UroStatistix – a browser-based application that digitally captures microbiological urine examinations, performs statistical analysis, and exports PDF reports. The software aligns with EUCAST guidelines, the European standards for antimicrobial susceptibility testing. This way, practices automatically fulfill their legal documentation obligations. No more duplicate documentation, no manual calculations. Instead: Simple data entry, automatic analysis, ready-made reports.

Version 1: First Digital Solution for Quality Management
Between February 2020 and late 2022, Rasmus Risse and Dustin Kremer developed the first version of UroStatistix. The software included an installer for local installation, an online demo version for prospects, an admin interface for license management, and an automated license generator. EUCAST guidelines for antimicrobial susceptibility were statically implemented. The browser-based software (Chrome/Firefox) complied with Rili-BÄK standards and enabled digital archiving and statistical analysis of antibiotic resistance in urology practices for the first time.
Initial Success – But New Challenges
The first version brought tangible improvements: The practice saves about one hour of work time per week – over €1,000 per year that can be invested elsewhere. Documentation became significantly easier and all data is available in one central location. But there was a problem: EUCAST guidelines change every year. In version 1, these changes had to be manually adjusted in the software. This was error-prone and meant that practices could theoretically work with outdated guidelines – a compliance risk.
Automated Updates for Strict Compliance
The feedback was clear: Manual updating of EUCAST guidelines posed a problem. Urologists must be able to rely on their software always using the latest standards. Starting in January 2023, Dennis Lapuschkin developed version 2 with a clear focus: Automated EUCAST updates. The software now independently downloads the latest guidelines and updates itself. Practices can no longer accidentally work with outdated data. This means 100% compliance – without manual effort.

Version 2: EUCAST Compliance Guaranteed
Starting in January 2023, the focus was on one central milestone: Automated EUCAST compliance. The software independently downloads the latest guidelines from EUCAST (European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing) and ensures strict compliance – users can no longer deviate from current guidelines. Practices no longer need to worry about annual updates, the risk of outdated documentation is completely eliminated. EUCAST publishes new breakpoint tables annually, which determine which antibiotics should be used for which pathogens. Version 2 ensures that every practice always works with the latest standards.
Compliance Without Effort
Version 2 solved the last problem. The practice no longer needs to worry about EUCAST updates – the software takes care of it automatically. This provides security: Documentation always meets current standards. At the same time, the practice continues to save time in daily work. UroStatistix is now an indispensable tool for quality assurance in urology practices.
